Lenten Series 2021 – According to Mark, the Good News about Jesus

This year, according to the lectionary, we are in series B. That means that most of our Gospel lessons this year come from the Gospel of Mark. During Lent, we will be reading through this Gospel together. This booklet can be our guide.

Here is a brief overview of Mark’s Gospel and what you can expect:

  • Theme: Jesus, the Son of God
  • Audience: Gentile/Roman
  • Characteristics: reads like an action novel; one of the three “synoptic” Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke)

  1. As you read this text, is there a sin that is being addressed?
  2. What does this text reveal about Jesus? How is He offering you hope, healing and new life?
  3. As you read this text, what is Jesus calling you to be or do?
  4. What is the Good News in this text that you can share with others?
