Day Twenty-Four (of 31 Daily Reminders)

Who God Is…

God is Holy! (sinless and hating sin)

[The holy Son of God took our sin upon Himself and bore it to the cross!]

Who I am/we are in Christ…

I am a saint!

“Praise the Lord you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.”
Ps 34:9

Taste and see that the Lord is good! …Let the Lord’s holy people, His saints, who belong to Him, praise Him! Those who reverence Him will not be lacking!

[The Lord provides for His people; He gives all that we need and more! … For all His benefits to me, I, {state your name}, will give Him praise.]

“We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Heb 10:10

We have been set apart as holy (clean from all sin) because Jesus Christ did what God wanted Him to do by sacrificing Himself for us, once and for all.

[Holy means to be consecrated, set apart, for God’s holy purpose…I, {state your name}, am by His grace a saint set apart to be and do all He has planned for me.]

His promises for me/us today…

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Heb 11:1

Faith is the guarantee that assures us of the things that we expect. It convinces us of the reality of the things we cannot yet see.

[God calls us to live by faith, not by sight. Our faith opens us to spiritual realities all around us. Sometimes when all the outward evidence is to the contrary, God is at work behind the scenes is ways we can’t even begin to imagine! … Jesus invites me, {state your name}, to live by faith and not by sight.]

“Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith.”
Heb 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of examples of the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily distracts us and hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish.

[As we journey from here to heaven, it is important that we keep our eyes passionately fixed on Jesus. As we focus on Him and His Word, the temptations from the devil and the world will be less able to distract us or trip us up along the way. This race is not a short sprint but rather a marathon that requires great endurance and stamina… As I, {state your name}, run, I keep my eyes on Christ Jesus.]

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Php 1:6

I am certain of this: that God, who began this good work in you and among you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Jesus Christ returns.

[Please be patient, God is not finished with me yet… I, {state your  name}, am His work of art in progress.]

His callings/my vocations…

As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?

Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you?  [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?

Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!

This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us.  If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
