Day Sixteen (of 31 Daily Reminders)

Who God Is…

God is Sovereign!  (Lord over all)

[The one who is over all, humbled Himself to be born a man and to bear the cross out of love for us.]

Who I am/we are in Christ…

I am loved by God!

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
1 Jn 4:10

This is the real love that I am talking about – not our love for God but His love for us when He sent His Son to be the sacrifice that was the payment for our sins.

[This is God’s Agape love. He loved us unconditionally even when we were His enemies and we tried to reject His love… This is His unconditional love for me, {state your name}.]

“I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with loving kindness.”
Jer 31:3

I, God, have loved you with an everlasting love. I will continue to show you my unfailing kindness.

[The Lord’s love for us is great. Nothing can separate us from His love shown to us when He sent Jesus to die for us…  I, {state your name}, am the object of His love.]

His promises for me/us today…

“Nothing is impossible with God.”
Lk 1:37

For there is not a thing that God cannot do!

[God can do anything; He can also undo anything that we have messed up…I, {state your name}, can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.]

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” declares the Lord, “as high as the heavens are above the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts  than your thoughts.”
Isa 55:8-9

My thoughts are completely different than yours. And My ways are far beyond anything you can imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts far beyond yours.

[He is Creator; I am creature. His ways and plans are way beyond mine… When I, {state your name}, make plans, He laughs!]

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous (victorious) right hand.”
Isa 41:10

Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be intimidated; I am your God and have your back. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will support you with My victorious right hand.

[The battle belongs to the Lord…with God on my side, I, {state your name}, can do all He calls me to do.]

His callings/my vocations…

As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?

Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you?  [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take-aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?

Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!

This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us.  If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
