Day Seven (of 31 Daily Reminders)

Who God Is…

God is Omniscient!   (All-knowing; wise)

[The God who knows all – even that we would crucify His Son – sent Him anyway out of love for you! Christ, who knew the evil hearts of men, humbled Himself to their evil intentions when they led Him to the cross]

Who I am/we are in Christ…

I am His workmanship!

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance that we should walk in them.
Eph 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that our lives can be filled with all the good things He long ago planned for us to do.

[We are God’s work of art – at the touch of the Master’s hand, He takes common resources and shapes us so that we can be all He plans for us to be. As others see His work in and through us, the Artist gets the praise…I, {state your name}, in my life show the evidence of God’s work in me.]

“All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Tim 3:16-17

God has given us His inspired Word, the Bible, into which He has breathed life, so that it is useful for teaching us His truth, for showing us our faults, for getting us back on His path, and for training us for right living so that we are fully qualified and equipped to do all the good things He has planned for us to do.

[God’s Word is both the tool used by God to prepare me, {state your name}, for service and the equipment I use as I live out my Christian life. He has breathed life into His Word so that it comes alive for me as I abide in it and thus bear much fruit.]

His promises for me/us today…

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and over flowing with thankfulness.”
Col 2:6-7

Therefore, just as you all have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your life of faith in Him. Let your roots go down deep in Him, draw your nourishment from Him, be strengthened in the faith you were taught, let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all He has done.

[Trees with deep roots are better able to withstand the storms of life. Faith is not a one-time thing; it is a daily way of life lived in the rhythm  of baptism…I, {state your name}, will bear much fruit as I abide in Him and put my roots down deep in His Word.]

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things as these there can be no law.”
Gal 5:22

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”
Prov 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not rely on what you think you know and understand. In all you do trust Him and His ways, and He will show you the right way.

[also Mt 6:33; The Lord does have a plan for our lives, found in His Word. Though we are often tempted to follow our plan instead, we can know that He knows what is really best from us. He even promises to be with us through the difficult times and the rough places (smooth them out)…Lord, help me, {state your name}, to live by faith and not by sight as I follow You.]

His callings/my vocations…

As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?

Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you?  [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?

Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!

This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us.  If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
