Seventh Grade children receive the fish, which was being used as early as the second century to symbolize Christ. This symbol was used because the letters of the Greek word for fish (IXOYC) can form an acrostic to say: Jesus (I) Christ (X) God’s (O) Son (Y) Savior (C).
