Day Twenty-Three (of 31 Daily Reminders)
Who God Is…
God is Omnipresent! (present everywhere)
[The God who is omnipresent gave up the fullness and glory of heaven to be confined within a mother’s womb in order to save you and me!]
Who I am/we are in Christ…
I am a never alone!
God has said, “never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we can say with confidence, “the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Heb 13:5
Be satisfied and content with what you have, for God Himself has said, ‘Never will I fail you or abandon you’, so we can be bold to say, ‘The Lord is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’
[Our confidence is in God and His promises. Because of Him, we can face our fears; we can boldly step out in faith… I, {state your name}, can trust that God always has my back and will never abandon me.]
His promises for me/us today…
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Ps 139:13-14
You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together when I was inside my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made.
[I believe that God made me, {state your full name}, – He gave me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses and still takes care of them. He continues to provide for and protect me. All I have is a gift from Him.]
“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’.”
Rom 8:15
So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should be instead like God’s very own children, adopted into His family – calling Him “Father, dear Father”.
[God through Baptism has made us His sons and daughters who He invites to approach Him with all boldness and confidence… I, {state your name}, am a child of God!]
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Rom 8:16
The Spirit of God affirms with our spirits that we are indeed His children. And since we are His children, we are also His heirs –everything He has for Christ is now also ours. If we share His suffering, we shall certainly share His glory.
[The Spirit is the One who has brought us into relationship with God and who continues to sustain us in that relationship. He teaches you and me, {state your name}, what it means to be and to live as a child of God.]
His callings/my vocations…
As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?
Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you? [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take-aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?
Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!
This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us. If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
