Day Twenty-Six (of 31 Daily Reminders)

Who God Is…

God is Faithful!  (He keeps His promises)

[God proved His Faithfulness by doing the unthinkable: the Creator dying for His creatures’ sins!]

Who I am/we are in Christ…

I am an heir of heaven !

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but shall have everlasting life.”
Jn 3:16

For God loved the people of this world (who He had created) so much that He gave the very life of His own Son (to redeem and restore them), so that whoever believes in Jesus, will not be separated from God for eternity, but will have life with Him forever.

[This is the very essence of the Gospel; the focus of the Scriptures. God out of love sacrificed the life of His Son so that  we could have life abundant and eternal…  For God so loved me, {state your  name}…]

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life. And this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; He who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
1 Jn 5:11-12

This is the testimony of God (He has gone on record): He has given us life and this real life is only to be found in His Son. Anyone who has Christ, has this life; whoever does not believe in the Son of God does not have this life at all.

[We can be confident that we have eternal life because God has gone on record in His Word promising new life to all who believe in His Son Jesus. This new life is found nowhere else! Apart from Christ we have nothing at all and can do nothing to save ourselves from the consequences of our sin. There is no middle ground – either you have the Son or you don’t. No Christ, no life; know Christ, know life!My testimony begins and is founded on the testimony of God Himself.]

His promises for me/us today…

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
Isa 1:18

Though your sins are bright red (public, known by everyone), they shall be white as snow; though they are dark red (hidden, known only by you and God), they shall be like wool.

[Whether our sins are public or private, God can and does forgive them. White is the color of purity, a heart that is pure before the Lord… My transgressions have been covered and my sins have been paid in full. They have been bound in the past and have no more power in my present or future.]

“There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Rom 3:23-24

There is no distinction (whoever we are or whatever we have been like), Yes, all (every one of us) have sinned and fall short of God’s glorious standard (are far away from His saving presence). And all have been made right (declared not guilty) as a gift of His grace because Christ Jesus Himself paid the penalty for all those sins.

[We were God’s enemies deserving the death penalty, but Christ Jesus took the penalty for us so that we could have life, not death…Though I, {state your name}, fully deserved the sentence of death, He has given me life in His Son!]

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our sins from us.”
Ps 103:12

As far as the east is from the west, God has removed our rebellious acts from Himself.

[East and west never meet; that is how far God has removed our sins from us, from me, {state your name! He has removed them completely!]

His callings/my vocations…

As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?

Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you?  [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take-aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?

Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!

This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us.  If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
