Day Thirty-One (of 31 Daily Reminders)

Who God Is…

God is Sovereign!  (Lord over all)

[The one who is over all, humbled Himself to be born a man and to bear the cross out of love for us.]

Who I am/we are in Christ…

I am loved by God!

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
1 Jn 4:10

This is the real love that I am talking about – not our love for God but His love for us when He sent His Son to be the sacrifice that was the payment for our sins.

[This is God’s Agape love. He loved us unconditionally – even when we were His enemies and we tried to reject His love…This is His unconditional love for me, {state your name}.]

“I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with loving kindness.”
Jer 31:3

I, God, have loved you with an everlasting love. I will continue to show you my unfailing kindness.

[The Lord’s love for us is great. Nothing can separate us from His love shown to us when He sent Jesus to die for us… I, {state your name}, am the object of His love.]

His promises for me/us today…

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
Ps 29:11

The Lord will give power to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

[God our Father is also our Provider and Protector. Sometimes He calms the storm, sometimes He calms His child… I, {state your name}, have His peace!]

“Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy – to the only God, our Savior, be glory, majesty, power and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”
Jude 24

Glory to Him who can keep you from stumbling and bring you safely to His glorious presence, innocent of sin and with unspeakable joy. To God, the only God, who saves us through Jesus Christ, be all the glory, majesty, might and authority, from all ages past, now and forever and ever. Amen!

[We will spend eternity joyfully joining in the heavenly hymn of praise to our God who has saved us. “And when in scenes of glory we sing the new, new song, it will be the old, old story that we have loved so long!]

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Num 6:24-26

May the Lord bless you and protect you; may the Lord smile on you and be kind to you; may the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.

[This is His promise to us. As we abide in Him and in His Word He will bless us and we will bear much fruit… May His blessing be on me, {state your name}.]

His callings/my vocations…

As you reflect on these words from the Lord, what do you sense God calling you to be or to do? How do these words and promises from the Lord speak to you today with the particular joys and struggles that are part of your life and life of faith?

Think of the people who are closest to you in the vocations He has given you?  [husband/wife; family; friends; neighbors; others]. What are some of the “take-aways” from these verses that you could share with them to encourage or support them in the challenges they face as they live in this broken world?

Now take a moment to pray, using the words of some of these Scriptures to shape your prayer, as you pray them back to Him. Pray them specifically for those things that you or those you love are dealing with today!

This is from the devotional tool, “31 Daily Reminders”, that I have designed to help you begin each day aware of Who God Is, of Who We Are In Christ, of His Promises That Sustain and Empower Us, and of the Various Callings/ Vocations He Has Given Us.  If you would like a hard copy of these devotions, just let me know!
